1910s English Arts & Crafts Opaline Globe Pendant Lamp with Hand-Painted Flowers
English Arts & Crafts Opaline Globe Pendant Lamp w/ Hand-Painted Flowers. Designer or Artist: N/A Year Of Design: c. 1910s Company or Studio: N/A Country: United Kingdom. Height: 220 mm / 8.6" Width or Diameter: 170 mm / 6.7". Notes: An original antique opaline glass globe shade with extensive and beautifully preserved handpainted flower decoration and attractive Arts & Crafts style brass gallery with louvred vents. Probably English-made, and likely home-painted from a hobbyist patterns book. The bright, naive style would fit any Bloomsbury-inspired interior.
The lamp has been carefully cleaned and rewired with a brand new British-made solid brass B22 lamp-holder and a generous length of Italian 3-core double insulated cable with a decorative mottled grey linen brain, in-keeping with the period of the lamp. Accepts a single B22 bayonet cap bulb. Clean and ready to install. Condition Report: Very minor wear to the paint and glass surface in very isolated places, and some rubbing to the patina on the bronze gallery, but generally excellent and ready to install.
