Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a gorgeous Choisy-le-Roi French Art Glass Star Fish opalescent bowl, c. Design created by Andre Hunnebelle.

The design features a large raised star fish with heavy blue opalescence on the bowl's exterior with a molded wave pattern alternating between the five arms of the star fish. The bowl sits on five short hexagonal shaped feet. Unfortunately, the bowl is signed with spurious molded mark. LALIQUE, Made in France on the exterior of the bowl below upper edge.

Measures 3" high with a 9 1/4" top diameter. This nice bowl is in excellent Estate condition with no chips, cracks or alterations. There are a couple of tiny no-harm internal bubbles in the glass from production.

Was born in Paris in 1896 and started designing glass after being inspired by the glass of Rene Lalique. In 1890, Leon Houdaille (from Sevres) took control of the Choisy factory and in 1932, Choisy merged with Christallerie de Sevres. This merger brought with it the technique of using molded-pressed glass used by. Rene Lalique, Sabino, Etling, Hunnebelle and d'Avesne and the future of the Cloisy glass works was insured. However, in 1952, Leon Houdaille's son decides to close the factory ending this story in French Art Glass history.
