Kralik Art Nouveau opalescent glass bowl with green trails, c1910

  

Size: 17 cm in diameter, 10.5 cm tall. This lovely bowl is made to a common design used by the Bohemian glass maker Kralik, but it is a bit unusual in that the main body is opalescent glass rather than the more common irridescent green glass.

The glass is hand blown there is a pontil mark on the bottom, with turned over and crimped rim. The marks of the crimping tool are easy to see - on the irridescent glass they tend to be less noticeable.

The body of the bowl has trails of green glass applied - on this example they are all complete. The opalescent glass does have some nice irridescence and on the inside a lovely shine. The vase is not marked, as is usual with Kralik. The Kralik glass factory was founded in 1815 in Bohemia (now the Czech Republic) and in its last form, Wilhelm Kralik Sohne, made glass up until World War 2.
