Antique Stourbridge Opaline Red Overlay Glass Intaglio Cameo Vase Fairy Motif. This absolutely fabulous cameo glass or Intaglio vase is wonderful example of Late 19th Century British Stourbridge Glass. Created in the 1880s or 1890s it is the red on white opaline overlay that makes this piece unique as it is more common the opposite is seen in Intaglio cut opaline, usually the white opaline is cut to reveal red underneath.

In this case the red overlay is intricately cut to create a scene in white, featuring a fairy surrounded by ivy leaves, a whimsical faience-esque take on the neoclassical motifs usually sported by cameo glass. This together with its wonderful dotted Intaglio edges, classic shape & imposing size make this impressive vase a striking piece and the perfect addition to any collection or display.

40cm or 16in tall, 19cm or 7.5in wide at widest point. Rim to rim is 12cm or 4.75in, and the useable opening is 3cm or 1.5cm in diameter. Base is 13.5cm in width.

Condition is'Used' - Good Overall Antique Condition with some minor wear commensurate with age such as a couple of scratches within the inner rim area and some black spots/marks in places within the etched patterns, some light scratches to top of base and around rim As photographed.
