Century baluster-form VASE, - French, - possibly Baccarat glass, - heavy white opaline glass, - overall black ebonized surface, - Classical laurel wreath with faux-jewel painted petals, - opal rings, - Classical Egyptian form handpainted scene of scholar with student (Phythogoras and Plato /Aristotle). 16" tall, 6.5" dia. Condition - excellent, no chips, cracks or repairs, shows wear on gilt. 1827 - Probably a Classical Greek art scene signifying birth and development of Greek and Western philosophy (600-350 BC).
