A Rene Lalique opalescent glass plate in the coquilles pattern. The coquilles design is one of the most recognisable of Lalique's designs of the Art Deco period and a must have for any collection.

This example is the plate form (with the bowls being more common) and is model 3011 in the Lalique catologue dating to the 1920's. The opalescence on this example is concentrated towards the base of the shells and tapers off towards the outer shell pattern.

Note the strong geometric lines, a classic feature of the deco period. Very good order, wear is very limited.

Slight moulding flaws as typical for early production including a very small raised blip of glass to the inner rim. Diameter: 23.3 cm (9 1/8 inch). Weight: 674 grams (before packing).
