The glass firm Stevens and Williams of England produced many beautiful art glass items during the Victorian era of which the company exported around the globe. Besides the many table wares the company produced, they also created beautiful art glass vases in assorted shapes and colors. This unusual example has a very tight swirl opalescent pattern incorporated into the cranberry tinted glass as well as an applied scalloped band of rigaree circling the broadest part of the body.
Together with the unusual shape and design, the contrast of white to pink sets this vase apart from similar examples. The vessel measures 6 3/4" tall and 5 1/2" diameter including the applied rigaree. A nicely ground pontil visible in the bottom with a darker ash inclusion in the center. I can find no chips, cracks, damage or repairs on this wonderful item. The inside appears clean showing no staining from use. Please view all pictures as they are considered part of the description. Please check back to my listings often as I will be posting numerous fine examples of glass, pottery and porcelain in the near future.
